There are so many ways to spice up your bullet journal and make it your own. Bullet journaling is all about being creative even if you’re not an ‘arty’ person! You can jazz up minimalist spreads with these 5 techniques and add to your artistic pages with them too.

You don’t have to spend tons of money to make your bullet journal personal and creative – there are so many low budget and easy ways to jazz up your journal.

Here are 5 easy ways to spice up your bullet journal!

#1 Craft Paper

Using craft paper is an easy way to spice up your bullet journal! You can use any paper from brown parcel paper to decoupage paper.

Craft paper is great for adding a different texture to the page and I think it gives a kinda ‘vintage’ vibe to a spread. One of the best things about craft paper is that you can use white pen on top AND you can actually see it!

It’s also great for covering up any mistakes whilst adding a fun twist to the page!

#2 Dutch Doors

Dutch doors are an excellent way to spice up your bullet journal – they look gorgeous and are easier to create than they look!

Dutch door is basically a fancy way of describing a cut out page in your journal. They can be as simple as a page cut in half or difficult intricate patterns.

You can use scissors or a craft knife to create dutch doors but be careful you dont cut through too many pages (I’ve made that mistake before).

In my May bullet journal set up I used a dutch door for the cover page.

#3 Washi Tape

Washi tape is one of my personal favourites! It can spice up your bullet journal, hide mistakes and add some texture to a simple page.

Washi tape is very versatile and can be used in many different ways including making stickers, page dividers and headings!

You can get some cheap washi tape packs from Amazon and other retailers such as Hobbycraft (in the UK).

#4 Stickers

Stickers are another cheap but effective way to spice up your journal!

You can get so many different sticker designs and some people even make customs designs for you.

I have been making my own stickers to put in my journal and I’m loving it!

Why not help small business out by buying stickers from small creators on Etsy!

#5 Stamps

Stamps are great for lettering, especially if you don’t enjoy calligraphy.

I like to use my capital letter stamps for titles in my journal and I used this technique in my August bullet journal spread.

My favourite stamps are from Amazon and you can get a 70 piece set of alphabetical and numerical stamps for under £11!

I love your Trust the Universe page! I wish I had the time and patience to do a physical bullet journal. I don’t feel like I’m artistic enough either!

I like using washi tape, stickers and colour to add some texture and depth to each page. They are great if you aren’t very artistic like me ha ha! Thank you for sharing these other ideas!
