Life-changing habits are everywhere nowadays. There are books, youtube channels and podcasts dedicated to habits. Life-changing habits don’t have to take hours each day to make a difference.
Just 5 minutes a day can drastically change your life and create habits that last a lifetime! Below are 7 Easy 5 minute life-changing habits you need to try…
Set An Intention For The Day
As Benjamin Franklin once said; “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”. Spending 5 minutes at the start of the day to set an intention is very beneficial for productivity.
Focus leads to results and we all want result don’t we? Try to make the intention specific and achievable so you know what you need to do and why.
Top Tip: Write your goal down and put it somewhere you will see it – this will remind you what you want to achieve!

5 Minute Tidy
Some people love tidying and some hate it. It is a well-known fact that a tidy environment = a tidy mind.
Stick on a 5-minute timer and tidy as much as you can in this time. You’ll be surprised at how much you get done AND you might just want to keep going!
Nowadays, everyone is focused on what they don’t have and how to get what they want. But, taking 5 minutes each day to practice gratitude for the things you do have is one of my favourite life-changing habits.
I use my bullet journal to write down one thing I am grateful for each day and it has helped me focus on the small wins in life!
When was the last time you randomly reached out to someone you care about? Maybe you’ve lost touch with someone accidentally. It is so easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget to check on others.
With modern technology, reaching out to someone has NEVER been easier! A quick text, phone call or even a letter can make someone’s day.
Meditation is one of those life-changing habits that you hear about a lot but you don’t actually try. I am here to tell you to TRY IT. Honestly, at first, I was sceptical too but now I meditate every day.
Meditation doesn’t have to be sitting cross-legged and chanting (although if that’s what you choose to do that’s also good!).
You can meditate just by sitting in silence, using an app such as headspace or youtube.
It wouldn’t be a planning with Em blog post if I didn’t mention journalling! Bullet journalling, in particular, changed my life.
Although I spend WAY more than 5 minutes journaling each day, you can spend 5 minutes doing it and it’ll still be beneficial!
5 minutes is all you need to set up a minimalist spread or make a to-do list for the day.

You’ve probably heard this one before so I won’t ramble on about it. However, making sure you drink enough is soooo important especially as the weather starts to get warmer and we spend more time outdoors.
Take 5 minutes each morning to enjoy a refreshing pint of water and I promise you’ll feel so much more energised and awake immediately.
So that wraps up the 5-minute life-changing habits that I think are super important. You don’t have to implement everything at once but consider trying at least one if you want to! Do you have any simple habits that you do every day and/or have been life-changing? Let me know in the comments!
